Removal of Xanthelasmas

Xanthelasmas are soft, yellowish spots or lumps that are caused by cholesterol deposits in the memory cells of the eyelids. They usually appear near the inner corner of the eye. Xanthelasmas are not painful or contagious but they cause an aesthetic problem to those who are affected, because the spots are visible to others and difficult to conceal.

There are several ways to treat xanthelasma, for example with a scalpel, acid or electrocautery. The best results can be achieved with a laser therapy, which, in addition, has the lowest risk for side effects.
